all the montys

here is the promised family portrait from the montgomery family reunion down in rome, georgia this past sunday. again, i am reminded of how long i've been blogging when i realize i that there is a strangely similar photograph and an entry posted from last year around the same time. time certainly does fly. i feel like the turnout was a little smaller this year than in past years, but it was still good to visit with fellow montgomerys from all over the nation. (the coolest discovery this year was that we have a navy seal in the family -- though, he wasn't there for the reunion unfortunately.) uncle jack (the bee farmer) and monty and pat graciously hosted, as they do every year, and for once, we had overcast skies and almost cool temperatures for most of the afternoon.

...

i finally, finally got my new georgia state driver's license... after 3 trips to the DMV in rock springs, georgia (30 minutes south on US27) i was nearly turned down again for lack of paperwork, but the motor-vehicle gods smiled on me for once and i am now the somewhat proud holder of a georgia driver's license. state income tax, here we come...

picked up the new david byrne album - so far so good - and the new beastie boys album has been reviewed.

Further proof that Tim'o was adopted. It is also obvious Josiah needs to find a woman.

Hey Andy, my name is Mandy Brown and I went to Covenant with you - though I think I was in your brother, Jessie's, class. I was with Susan Green this past weekend (at Jill Hancock's wedding, if you remember her) and she was telling me that you shot her daugther's wedding this past year. I was wondering if you do that often and if you were interested in doing mine? We are getting married in Atlanta. I have been looking at your pic's and really like your style - not real interested in the cheesy, posed wedding pictures - though I am sure we will need some for grandparents. Anyway, I feel a little guilty - like I have been reading your diary or something - because of course I couldn't look at the pic's without reading - I'm nosey. Susan is supposed to call me with your number, but Mike (my fiance) remembered your name and was messing around on the internet and found your blog sight. Would love to hear from you if you are interested.

Hey Mandy, this is Andy Perkins (Backpacking Club, Infradig show at Smith's Old Bar), small world we live in and it seems to be orbiting around this site. I am curious who Jill married, I always wondered who the lucky man would be. When is your big day?

Posted by: andyp at June 16, 2004 10:30 PM

Hello Andyp! Jill married a guy named Kelly Miner. She is in school up near DC getting her masters in anestesiology (I am pretty positive I butchered that spelling) - anyway, met him in school. He is a bit older and has two really great sons. The whole day was very Jill and she seems quite happy. I will give her your regards - you are right, though, he is a lucky man. I just saw Jerah's name on this sight - she was there too. We are getting married September 11th! It might be a small backpacking club reunion - Alice will be there and Jill and Will Honeycutt, Joe Kaufmann...what was Matt's dog's name that used to go with us???

Kirby. Getting old, but still around. A backpacking club reunion sonds like a good time. I could use a little Honeycutt right about now.

Josiah has a matrimonial gril. But what might have been had he met lucy at an earlier age...

Posted by: JosiahQ at June 24, 2004 03:43 PM

andy's a jerk and wont change "gril" to say "girl"

Posted by: JosiahQ at June 24, 2004 04:07 PM

You married a grill?

Posted by: andy at June 24, 2004 04:08 PM

A George Foreman grill. I hear it's Lucy's favorite brand.

Posted by: mesh at June 24, 2004 04:39 PM

would make sense, Lucy needs a strong man, all muscle-ly, military style.
