this image will be fixed in my memory for years to come i think. late one night when the house was pretty quiet, i came upon my mom slowly dancing in the kitchen to a johnny mathis love-songs cd she got for christmas and deftly putting a fussy niamh to sleep. somehow it looked all too familiar to her and i could only reflect that she must have had similar times 20-odd years ago with each of her four boys during their own sleepless nights...
...
okay - this is probably the last of the niamh photos for now. i'll need to get out some this weekend and take some photos, that or share some from the days in new york city.
geez... the new mac stuff is incredible.
I'm diggin' on the Mini, but how much is the thing going to cost with monitor, keyboard and mouse? I couldn't find an Apple display for less than $1,000. Am I missing something cheaper?
Posted by: mesh at January 13, 2005 12:50 PMyou can use any monitor, you don't need to buy one from apple -- I think that's the main idea, they're appealing to folks who own a PC and already have the extry bits.
Posted by: Lang Martin at January 13, 2005 01:11 PMOh. Well, I'm out, then. I was sort of getting excited about the conceit of a $500 computer, until I actually bothered to think about it. Maybe I could finagle something with a tax write-off.
Posted by: mesh at January 13, 2005 01:24 PMHey Mesh I would be willing to kick down a monitor that has been sitting in my garage for over a year. Interested?
Posted by: ARoss at January 13, 2005 02:17 PMThe Mac Mini really appeals to me. I have an old PC that's in need of replacement. I'd love a Mac, but until now they were waaaaay out of my price range.
Love the photo, Andy... it reminds me of when Bailey was small. I did basically the same thing, dancing and singing her to sleep, except I was serenading her with U2 songs. :)
Posted by: John at January 13, 2005 05:13 PMYou know, I was nearly at my limit for Niamh pictures, and then this one came along, which is pretty dang sweet.
Then you told the story, and I will forever occasionally drift away to that special place where baby Andy is rocked gently to sleep by a young Mommy Montgomery. That my friend, is my happy place.
Posted by: JosiahQ at January 14, 2005 09:40 AMJosiah I had no idea you had such a soft spot!! Anyway it is a sweet one. This one could most definately be a painting. I especially like how the cleaning products in the bottom left corner break up the small planes of cabinet/window in the background. Good composition, whether you were trying or not. I'd take out the glowing CD player though.
Posted by: katiek at January 15, 2005 07:49 PMOmg thats right! Please come see me and my friends! ;)
