we've been working on some of the identity stuff for the new coptix website, which is why you're seeing so many images like this. this is jennie, one of my coworkers here. the one who drives the pimped out honda civic, goes to john kerry rallies, and, along with alice, generally makes fun of her more conservative coworkers.

once again, josiah has been pushing the limits of funny, bordering on irritating, though i have to admit that what he did this week was one of the funniest things i've heard of in a long time. most of you have probably received one of those scam emails at one time or another in which a wealthy foreigner who needs help moving millions of dollars from his homeland promises a hefty percentage of this fortune as a reward for assisting him (like this). hopefully none of you have ever fallen for it. well, josiah gets one last week, and immediately replies to the email and gives the guy my cell phone number (something he enjoys doing...). a couple hours later i get a random phone call from some middle-eastern sounding guy who i can hardly understand telling me that he wants to talk about "the proposal." i keep telling him i have no idea what he's talking about until he finally hangs up, and i'm completely confused... until later that afternoon when josiah asks if i've gotten any strange phone calls. funny? yes. irritating? kind of, but only because it happened to me, and when i stop and think about it, it's actually really funny.
Wow, she sure it hot! I wonder how to get in touch with her...

Posted by: andy at February 25, 2005 11:34 AMAlong those same lines, there have been a number of "scambaiters" that have made a hobby out of stringing along these scammers under false pretenses, ideally getting them to spend their own money or at least humiliate themselves. This one is my favorite: http://www.419eater.com/
