"We need to go to Tennessee to pick up some fireworks, and someone owes me money in Kentucky," Waits said in a press release.
Tom Waits is coming to the south. Nashville, Atlanta, you name it. Please, please let me know if you know anything about getting tickets.
Oh, and if you like Tom Waits, you should check out my friend Lauris Vidal. He's like a really interesting mix of Tom Waits, M. Ward, and I'm not sure who else. And he's touring the south too, btw...
Ugghh!! I am SO jealous! Waits would never come to a place like Phila.
This really is the month for my "big three" -- last night, I saw the movie Nick Cave wrote, and the documentary about Leanord Cohen comes out here in mid-July. Now I'm longing for the South in a whole different way.
Posted by: becki at July 7, 2006 09:01 AMright on. there are few living musicians i'd like to see live as much as mr. waits. money is tight for me right now (might have to forego the upcoming danielson show), but i'll take out a loan or something. let's go. and i'll check out your friend's stuff. m. ward is a favorite of mine. anyone that does a good job of evoking ward and waits is on my list.
Posted by: Vincent at July 7, 2006 10:22 PMsouth shmouth. lauris vidal, rock star extraordinaire, was playing on the lower east side in manhattan last night, i saw him with my very own eyes... and he was kind enough to play an early show so those of us with early bedtimes (such as p-roc) could attend...
i do believe he's playing in brooklyn too, this monday, with kelly mcrae. maybe i'll get a babysitter. the two of them playing together would be too good to pass up.
